At OLEIA, we believe that fine jewelry is meant to be enjoyed and worn every day as an expression of your personal style. To maintain the condition of your fine jewelry and ensure its longevity, we recommend that you refer to the following guide for tips and instructions on how to best care for your OLEIA jewelry. If you have any questions regarding the nature of any materials or care of your jewelry, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@oleiajewelry.com.

Tips

  • Examine your jewelry regularly to make sure stones and closures are secure

  • Remove jewelry before showering, swimming in a pool, or cleaning to prevent exposure to harmful chemicals that can damage metals and gemstones

  • Do not wear jewelry while lifting weights or engaging in any rigorous exercise that may damage or disfigure your jewelry

  • Put your jewelry on after applying cosmetics such as makeup, lotions, and perfumes

  • Remember to safely store your jewelry in a soft pouch or jewelry box

  • Avoid cleaning your jewelry at home or using an ultrasonic cleaner unless you are familiar with your jewelry's specific care instructions - certain gemstones and metals require different treatments to prevent damage

MATERIALS

Metals

Most metals including gold, silver, and platinum can be cleaned using dish soap and warm water applied with a soft brush to remove any dirt and grime. After cleaning, you may use a soft cloth to dry your jewelry. Over time, a natural patina will develop on gold which gives it its inherent beauty. Professional cleaning & polishing of your OLEIA jewelry is always complimentary.

Diamonds

The most durable and hardest stone on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Although diamonds have a hard exterior, they can become chipped if not handled carefully. Because of their hardness, they can also scratch other metals and gemstones if they get into improper contact with each other.

Opals & Pearls

One of the most delicate and softest stones, and should be handled gently. We especially recommend removing your opal & pearl jewelry prior to contact with chemicals including cleaning supplies, swimming pools, and aerosol sprays. It is only recommended that you clean your opals & pearls with lukewarm water and a soft brush.

Sapphires, Rubies, & Emeralds

These stones are slightly below the hardness of a diamond making them great for everyday wear. These stones may be cleaned with warm water, dish soap, and a soft brush to help them maintain their vibrance.

Enamel

Essentially made of glass particles that are fused together and bonded with the metal. Because of this, enamel can be very delicate and susceptible to cracking if not treated properly. We recommend removing your enameled jewelry prior to contact with chemicals including cleaning supplies, swimming pools, and aerosol sprays. Separately wrap and store your enameled jewelry to avoid contact with other metals or objects that could potentially crack the enamel surface.

Stone Inlay

Similar to enamel, any pieces with stone inlay should be handled with care. The hardness and durability of the inlay will vary depending on the stone. Inlay rings should be worn and stored separately to avoid contact with other metals or objects that could potentially crack the inlaid stone.
